January 15th, 2018. Príncipe de Viana Group has been appointed Top 3 of Spain’s Winemaking Groups by the AkataVino 2018 Sommeliers of Spain Awards.
The jury, 35 of Spain’s most renowned sommeliers, has selected the five best winemaking groups, placing Príncipe de Viana Group in the Top 3 rank and emphasizing the group’s commitment with the environment.
About the members of this selection, the AkataVino 2018 Awards explain that Príncipe de Viana Group “(…) represents wines born from extraordinary vineyards placed in exceptional places, unique for their soils, altitudes, climates and for their exposure to the sun. With these parameters and the vibrant soul of those who make them, can great creations arise, such as those delivered by each of the wineries that make up this select group.”
For over a decade, the group’s four estates, Rioja Vega, Príncipe de Viana, Finca Albret, and Clunia have researched on the effects of climate change and global warming on the vineyard as well as on new ways of optimizing natural resources in order to minimize the impact of vineyard management on both the environment, and on the quality of the wines. The group is convinced that only by taking care of the nature that surrounds them, will the vineyards perform their maximum potential.
These efforts have translated into the high quality of the wines from the four ranges, reflected on Gold Medals from the most important competitions and high scores from critics, guides and journals of celebrated international fame, such as the Tempranillos al Mundo wine contest, the International Wine & Spirits Competition, or the International Wine Challenge, in addition to The Wine Advocate (Parker), the Peñín Guide, Wine Spectator, or Decanter, among many others.
Príncipe de Viana Group has relentlessly persisted to attain the highest possible quality of their wines, once more ratified with this exceptional award.
